The current recall is related to a problem with the linkage between the gas pedal and the carborateur on gas engine models only. There has been a general concern about floor mats wedging behind the gas pedal and I have received a letter from Toyota warning me about this and promising a fix real soon. As I am writing this I have just heard that the Japanese government is investigaing a problem with braking on a Prius when the cruise control is on. I use cruise control often and have not had a problem, so far.

As you know from reading my blog, the Prius has a different feel than traditional cars especially when braking at low speeds. This is consistent and affects all Prius from day one and just requires an adjustment in how you brake. This is not to say there is not a problem yet to be uncovered.

What this has shown us is that Toyota is no better at designing and building cars than any other manufacturer.

If you browse Amazon.com for a book that you know is also in the Kindle format you will see a price. When you commit to buying the book for your Kindle and identify that you are from canada then the price goes up by $2 US. Look at the free book section. Other than one or two books (such as 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea) all free books cost Canadians $2 US.

I just ordered Kindle 6" last week, but I remember there is no $2 surcharge. Am I wrong? When I go to Kindle global web page, there is a link called "...important specific information to your country" and for Canada, it says there is no additional charges for in or outside of Canada.
